Hey Racers!
We are the SCCA membership, and it’s time to take action!
The SCCA Solo Events Board (SEB) recently stated:
"The SEB does not have sufficient information around the performance, wear, and general availability to warrant removing the Vitour P1 from the exclusion list for the 2024 season but will continue to monitor and will revisit the decision for the 2025 season."
"The SEB will monitor the performance and availability of the Tempesta P1 over the course of the 2024 season to evaluate removing the tire from the exclusion list for 2025."
It sounds like the SEB and Street Advisory Committee are seeking feedback on the Vitour Tempesta P1 tire. I’ve been working hard to provide the motorsports community with information on its performance, wear, and availability. Now, we need your help to provide even more thoughtful, detailed feedback.
Why the Vitour P1 Should Be Eligible:
-
Choice: More tire options and sizes from different manufacturers serve our membership better.
-
Competitive Performance: The P1 doesn’t redefine the performance envelope set by current Super 200 options—it simply adds to the choices available.
-
Longevity & Cost-Effectiveness: The P1’s longevity reduces racing costs, allowing more of us to participate in more events. It also has an environmental benefit, producing less waste.
-
Availability & Distribution: As someone involved with Vitour, I can assure you that concerns about availability are unfounded. Vitour has nearly 20 years of experience in the USA with passenger, off-road, truck, and bus tires. They’ve been a supplier and sponsor of Formula Drift for years prior to the launch of the Vitour Tempesta P1.
-
Stock & Distribution: Thousands of Vitour P1 tires are in stock and available for sale in the USA, with additional sizes and inventory arriving soon. Vitour is ready and capable of serving the motorsport community with production capability that exceeds potential demand. The P1 is already carried by several distributors, with more partnerships on the way.
-
Meets Solo Rulebook Requirements: The Vitour P1 has met the requirements in the SCCA rulebook under 13.3 Street Category/Tires since last year. Any concerns have been addressed by Vitour, and they are committed to providing the best product for our community.
