Ryan Suydam’s First Autocross on Vitour P1 Tires

RYAN SUYDAM:
This weekend, I had my first autocross event running on the Vitour P1s, and the results were pretty exciting. Compared to the fastest drivers, I gained 2 seconds on a 60-second course. Typically, I’m around 5 seconds off FTD (Fastest Time of the Day), but this time, I was only 3 seconds back.

How the Car Felt:

  • The car felt balanced with excellent grip.
  • I was pleasantly surprised that there was no extreme oversteer or understeer.
  • I was initially concerned that the super fat rear tires would cause the car to push, but that wasn’t the case. The car still leaned towards oversteer, but in a controlled, progressive way—unlike my old Rivals, which would grip and then suddenly give up.

Tire Setup:

  • Front: 245/35R15
  • Rear: 305/30R15
  • I ran 22 psi in the front and 24 psi in the rear to fully use the tread.

Overall, I’m thrilled with the P1s’ performance. The car felt great, and the improved times speak for themselves!

Bonus points for the SCCA event and all the “banned” jokes from the pros about running the Vitour P1s!
