Camber Setup Tips for the Vitour P1

Camber Setup Tips for the Vitour P1

Dialing in the right camber is one of the most important parts of tire setup—but not every 200tw tire reacts the same way. The Vitour P1 has proven to be more forgiving than many of its competitors when it comes to alignment. Whether you’re maxed out at -4 or stuck with stock specs in Street class, here’s what drivers are seeing when it comes to camber wear, performance, and setup on the P1.

Less Camber, More Life

The P1 doesn’t need extreme negative camber to perform well or wear evenly. In fact, many drivers are reporting better performance after backing down from their RE71RS or A052 alignments. Camber numbers around -2.7° to -3.2° front and -2.0° rear are proving ideal across multiple platforms.

“Unlike some 200tw tires that punish low camber with outer wear, the P1 often shows the opposite—inner wear from overdoing it.”

For example, switching from -3.7° to -3.0° front camber on a C8 Stingray improved wear and turn-in on the P1. Rear camber in the -2.0° to -2.5° range has been consistent across RWD platforms.

What If You’re Running -4?

The P1 can handle aggressive alignment—but “more” isn’t always better. Many drivers transitioning from Hoosiers or A7s have found gains by reducing camber to more moderate levels.

“I suspect you’ll wear the inside first with that alignment. Closer to -3/-2 is usually the happy place.”

This also means you may not need extra camber hardware to get the most out of the tire—especially helpful for Street-class cars or vehicles with limited adjustability.

Street-Class Cars Still Win

Even without adjustable camber, the P1 holds up well. GTIs, Civics, and other Street-class cars are reporting strong early grip and even wear, even with minimal front camber and no rear modifications.

“The P1 came in quicker than the RE71RS on my 3150 lb GTI.”

That flexibility makes the P1 a standout option in classes where alignment changes aren’t allowed.

Real-World Camber Ranges

Here are tested camber setups from multiple platforms:

  • Lotus (285/305 combo): -2.7° front, -2.0° rear
  • C8 E-Ray (square 345s): -3.0° front, -2.0° rear
  • C8 Stingray (295/315 setup): -3.0° front, -2.5° rear
  • C8 Stingray (on A052s): previously -3.7° front, -2.6° rear—dialed back for P1s

Even GM’s factory track alignment specs (around -2.5° to -3.0° front) are very close to what the P1 likes. One driver noted improved grip and reduced wear by reducing camber over time and fine-tuning from there.

Final Thoughts

The Vitour P1 is more camber-friendly than most 200tw tires. It performs at a high level even with moderate alignment specs, and in some cases, less camber actually improves both grip and wear. Whether you’re on a fully built time attack car or a Street-class daily driver, the P1 rewards balance—not overkill.
