IndySCCA Points Event #1 Results

Several drivers were running on the Vitour P1 and qualified for contingency at the first IndySCCA points event. Here’s a breakdown of the competitors on P1 tires:

  • Dallas Reed – XB 2005 Lotus Elise on 305/30/15 & 345/30/18
  • Michael Young – SS 2024 Corvette Z06 on 295/25/19 & 345/25/19
  • Kevin Berba – STX 2017 Toyota 86 on 245/40/17
  • Shawn Hayden – XA 2023 Subaru BRZ on 245/40/17

I managed the best result on the P1s, finishing 5th in PAX, 4th in raw, and 2nd fastest on 200TW tires. The fastest on 200TW tires was Kevin Keys (last year's Indy driver of the year) in CAM-S on Bridgestones. Nick Zelisko in CAM-T ran Nankangs, and Robert Pendergest in DSP was on Hoosiers.

While I felt good, though not great, about my run (too heavy on the brake pedal), the car made it through the event without any issues—marking the third successful event this season, which is a win in itself. Check out my GoPro video of the run here.

Michael Young faced some transmission difficulties, only getting one decent run where he finished the last couple corners in the wrong gear. He’s been performing better at recent events and is expected to be in the conversation for top spot in future competitions.

Putnam Park Shakedown

On Saturday, I took my time attack car out to Putnam Park for a track day. The car weighs around 3,100 lbs, set to low boost, making an estimated 700-800hp with some serious downforce. With sunny weather in the mid-70s to low 80s, it was a perfect day for testing.

I ran both old Hoosier A7s and relatively new Vitour P1s in 315/18. While both felt good in terms of putting power down and braking, the A7s clearly had a higher limit under heavy G-load cornering. I didn’t get a clean lap without traffic or other issues, so there’s not much to compare in terms of lap times. However, I did run AIM data, which I haven’t yet dug into. Interestingly, I ran roughly the same time (1:10s) on both tires, though I’ve previously done a 1:07 on a less developed version of the car.

I also ran the C8 on 295/18 and 345/18 P1s without comparing them to other tires. My wife drove the C8 an hour to and from the track and mentioned the P1s felt good on the drive. On the track, the P1s performed as usual—allowing me to run entire sessions without feeling greasy or sketchy.

Final Thoughts

Overall, it was a productive weekend for testing and competition. The Vitour P1s continue to impress with their balance of performance and durability, both on the street and the track. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue testing!
