Jeremy McCauley's Experience with the Vitour P1 – A Game-Changer for Wide 15” Tires

Jeremy McCauley's Experience with the Vitour P1 – A Game-Changer for Wide 15” Tires

This post has been a long time coming, and I’m excited to share my journey with the Vitour P1 tires! For those who don’t know me, I drive a '91 Miata with an LS3, T-56, and an 8.8 diff, weighing just over 2,900 lbs with the driver (per KOTM rules). The car puts down over 400 hp and 460 tq to the wheels, and I drive it to and from all events—sometimes towing a small tire/tool trailer when I’m running non-street tires.

For years, I’ve been on the hunt for a wider 15” street tire for autocross. While the Hoosier (295/35/15) is an excellent option, it’s not street legal. That’s where Vitour stepped up with their new P1 (285/30/15), a tire that finally met the needs of enthusiasts like me.

The Vitour P1 Story

Vitour initially searched for a high-horsepower Miata to test the P1 tires. Like many others, I volunteered but wasn’t selected. However, I reached out to them and was able to purchase a set just in time for UMI's King of the Mountain event. The tires arrived right on schedule, and thanks to Mad Matt's Customs, I had them mounted and ready to go in time for the event.

Performance at King of the Mountain

At King of the Mountain, the P1 tires performed well, and I managed to improve my results compared to previous years. After the event, I posted my results and provided feedback to Vitour. Following this, I drove the P1s from PA to KY to participate in Holley LS Fest East.

LS Fest East and Tire Durability

At LS Fest East, I made it to the Top 5 shootout and had a great time. After the competition, I even joined in on the post-event burnout fun! Despite doing donuts until the rear tires were bald, the P1s held up remarkably well throughout the event.

The next day, I continued running on the P1s and performed well in the 3S challenge, even with the rear tires worn down. Afterward, I drove home from KY to PA, and the tires performed flawlessly the entire way.

Vitour’s Commitment to Their Product

Vitour went above and beyond in terms of customer support. Even though I didn’t win my class, they reached out and gave me a $300 refund on my purchase. This level of support is a testament to how much Vitour stands behind their product.

The Vitour P1 has become my go-to tire because of the safety and performance it offers, especially with the wider sizes available for street tires. I feel much more confident putting down power with these tires.

Moving Forward

The Vitour P1 is quickly gaining recognition in events, and I’m excited to see it being allowed in more competitions. Since Holley LS Fest, I’ve already ordered two new tires to replace the ones I wore out during the event, and I can’t wait to keep running them!

If you’re looking for a tire that delivers performance, durability, and wider options than what’s typically available, the Vitour P1 is definitely worth a try.
