JUSTIN PEACHEY:
I’m excited to announce that I’ll be running the hot new Vitour P1 tires on my car this year for events where they are legal! I had my first outing with them at VIR this past weekend, though I didn’t get enough time on them to form a full impression yet. The Vitour P1 tires aren’t currently legal for some national series as a 200TW tire, but I’ll still be able to use them in Gridlife Track Mod, SCCA unlimited for time trials (like at VIR), XP in SCCA autocross, and some local regions where they’re allowed in 200TW classes.
I’ll be sharing my experiences as I go, but based on everything I’ve heard so far, the P1 should be on a similar pace to the best 200TW tires, size for size. In my case, I can fit a much wider P1 than what’s currently available with other 200TW tires. For example, the widest A052 is a 315, while the P1 offers a 345 in both 18-inch and 19-inch wheels—and the P1 is priced lower than the 315 A052. This extra width should give the P1 a performance advantage over the A052 in my case, and I’m excited to see how that plays out.
The Vitour P1 also comes in a variety of wide sizes for different cars, from small cars to supercars. Some key sizes include 285/15, 305/15, 285/17, and 315/21.
