A few weekends ago, Team VitourP1 — or for this event, “Team Water Razor Technology” — headed to SCCA Targa Chicagoland with Dallas Reed in his P1-equipped E-Ray and an unusual co-driver: a plush marlin nicknamed Swordfish. The goal? Tackle a new format, chase grip, and see how the 200tw Vitour P1s stacked up.
Day 1: Water Razor Technology Activated
You thought the hope for rain was sarcasm. You thought Water Razor Technology was a joke. You thought the fish was just for laughs.
Well… it rained.
We launched.
And Swordfish? He’s still riding the high of being technically right.
In the full-course downpour of morning practice, Reed’s E-Ray on P1s went quickest overall by about a second. The first scored segment stayed wet, and he stretched that gap to five seconds.
In the three-lap cumulative, Reed set the fastest single lap of anyone, but pushing the electric boost a little too hard meant running part of lap three without it — handing the segment win to Dave Marcus and putting Reed 2nd.
Day 2: Reports from Putnam Park
Swordfish’s rain dance was still going strong. The Track Sprint at Putnam Park opened with a mix of dry and damp sections, and Reed topped the timesheets by over a second.
Another downpour hit for full-track practice, and both Reed and Marcus stayed well ahead of the rest of the field. In the one-lap flyer, Reed took the top spot. In the three-lap cumulative, it was another close fight — two quick laps followed by a drop-off on lap three, with Marcus taking the segment win.
Track conditions stayed green from the earlier rain, but Reed still posted a best dry lap of 1:13.1, just off Marcus’s 1:12.9.
First Overall at SCCA Targa Chicagoland
While Marcus ultimately took the overall event win, it was a strong showing for Vitour P1 drivers across multiple teams. In the Tire Rack Autocross, Nick Zelisko of Team “It’s Pronounced Vitour” took 2nd with Reed in 3rd. Across the rest of the weekend, P1-equipped cars from various teams finished first or second in every timed element.
From monsoons to mixed surfaces, the Vitour P1 proved its versatility — delivering strong performances across a range of conditions and keeping drivers competitive at the top of the leaderboard.
