Vitour P1 Feedback from Chris Hart

Chris Hart recently shared his experience running the Vitour Tempesta P1 on his C6 Corvette in competitive autocross, and his results add even more proof to what drivers have been seeing across the country.

Durability and Early Impressions

Chris is now on his second set of Vitour P1s. His first set lasted through seven autocross events with co-driving duties, and his second set is heading into a third event with barely any visible wear.

Setup and Tire Details

Running on a C6 Corvette platform, Chris found that 27–28 psi cold delivered the best balance of grip and stability, with a 315/30/18 front and 345/30/18 rear setup. He also noted that grip feels best when tire temperatures are in the 110–130°F range.

Cold Weather Warm-Up Strategy

In cooler conditions between 40–60°F, Chris recommends ten aggressive 10 mph circles in each direction followed by a burnout or two if allowed. At SCCA events where tire warming isn't permitted, drivers should expect to use their first run to build heat before pushing for fast times.

Vehicle Setup

Chris's Corvette runs a basic but effective setup:

  • Intake and full exhaust
  • Viking double adjustable coilovers
  • Stock sway bars and bushings
  • Alignment settings: -2.6° front, -1.8° rear
  • Performance Results

At his last event, despite running untuned coilovers, Chris managed a 42.6-second run on the left course—good for third fastest in class—and a 40.2 on the right course. He finished fifth overall out of 11 entries, showcasing how much of an impact the P1 tires and a solid alignment can make.

Final Thoughts

Chris emphasized that even with a simple build, the Vitour P1 made the car highly competitive. Once fully warmed up, the tires delivered exceptional consistency and grip, especially under the intense heat typical of Las Vegas and Arizona events.
